Additional Donations Needed In Santa For Seniors Drive

The donation period for the 17th Annual Santa for Seniors Christmas drive will draw to a close in the coming week, however donations have fallen extremely short.

Every year the Santa for Seniors program collects blankets, coats, personal care, household, and non-perishable food items for up to 600 local senior citizens and shut-ins. Thursday afternoon enough items had been donated to put together packages for around 40 people.

We are in dire need of donations, and would appreciate any assistance. Donations may be dropped off during business hours, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. week days, at WLX Radio Station, 1212 North Locust Avenue.

Donations need to be received by Tuesday, December 17 in order to allow time for packaging.

Many volunteers will also be needed to carry out the various phases of the program. The greatest need for volunteers falls during the packing and delivery stages.

We will be packing throughout the day on Wednesday, December 18 (from noon until late that evening). Should you wish to assist just stop by WLX.  Please use the glass doors at the back.

On Thursday we will finish packing and organizing. Applicants or their representatives may pick up their packages between 12:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Thursday. The delivery phase will begin promptly at 3:00.

Packages will be delivered throughout the day on Friday, December 19 and many volunteers are also needed for this phase. If you are interested in delivering, just stop by WLX after 10:00 a.m. Friday.
