Lawrenceburg Leaders Approve Agenda Items
With an agenda that included only two items of business, Lawrenceburg leaders gave final approval to both ordinances Thursday.
During the meeting the Board of Mayor and Council, members approved on second and final reading an ordinance to “regulate and prohibit the parking of motor vehicles and other vehicles on Gallaher Boulevard, between Carroll Avenue and the first house on the south side of the street.”
The action was taken in order to ensure access for emergency vehicles in the neighborhood. Parking along both sides of the street, leaders said, causes a narrow corridor which does not allow for fire trucks. It also results in longer response times for other emergency vehicles.
Also approved was a second ordinance that added purchasing card guidelines to the city’s Personnel Rules and Regulations. The guidelines will apply to personnel issued purchasing cards for various departments of city government.
Because of the holidays, the council will next meet on Thursday, December 17, rather than on the regularly-scheduled date of December 24.
