Woman Accused Of Shoplifting Returns Merchandise Due To Non-Satisfactory Treatment

A woman who paid for merchandise she had been accused of shoplifting at a Lawrenceburg store last week immediately returned the merchandise involved, saying that she was dissatisfied with the treatment she had received.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers report that they were summoned by store personnel to Dollar General located at 902 North Military Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. When they arrived, they report that an employee was speaking with the shoplifting suspect.

The employee told officers that the woman had concealed some merchandise inside her purse and did not pay for the items when she checked out.

She said that she had asked the woman repeatedly, “If there were any other items that she wanted to pay for,” and that each time the woman responded, “No.”

The woman told deputies that she had not attempted to steal anything, but rather that she had been hiding the items from her children because she wished to purchase them for their Christmas gifts. She said that she had responded “no” to the clerk because “her children were present and she didn’t want them to see…”

Officers report that the woman paid for the items, including some iPod speakers and a fingernail kit, costing her $24.15.

They note that immediately after paying for the items she returned them for a refund. She said that she did so because she was, “Dissatisfied with the way the store personnel had treated her.”
