Shoplifter Faces Drug Charges

A woman suspected of shoplifting who had been detained at a local store Friday was ultimately arrested on drug charges.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that Nicole McDonald, age 26, of 54 Hall Road, had been detained on suspicion of shoplifting while at Walmart on North Locust Avenue.

The reporting officer indicates that while he was investigating the matter it was learned that McDonald had a metal pill box inside her purse that contained a crushed Percocet tablet.

A whole pill was also found in her pocket. A plastic baggie found in her possession, the officer reports, contained cotton balls used to filter drugs before they are drawn into a syringe. The bag also contained a clear substance believed to be methamphetamine.

McDonald was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where she was booked under charges of possession of schedule II narcotics (Percocet), and possession of Schedule II narcotics (meth).

McDonald will be required to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 5, 2015.
