Crime Report Monday
Theft
Deputies responded to a Wolf Creek Road address where the victim reported that a Dodge rear axle and two aluminum wheels had been stolen. Loss was estimated at $300.
Theft
An Iron City man reported Saturday that a rifles and a scope valued at $900 were stolen out of his truck. He said the truck had been parked in his driveway at the time.
Burglary
Deputies were called to a Summertown home Friday where the resident reported someone had entered his home and stole a rifle, shotgun, and a scope. The items were reportedly worth $2,800.
Theft
A 5x8 foot, single axle trailer and ATV were reported stolen from a Creekmont Drive residence Friday. The owner reported that his black and silver Polaris700 was on the trailer at the time it went missing. He told deputies that it was parked in his yard when he left for work that morning. His wife arrived home nine hours later and it was gone. Loss was said to be 10,000.
Burglary
Deputies investigated the burglary of a storage unit on Buffalo Road Friday where the victim reported he had stopped by to find the unit empty. The storage facility owner reported that the unit had had no lock on it and he had noticed it had been left open with broken glass on the floor. Furniture, electronics, photos, appliances, clothing, and other household items were taken. Loss was estimated to be $6,470.
Vehicle burglary
Deputies spoke to an Ethridge resident Sunday who reported that her truck had been burglarized. She told deputies that someone had broken the latch and rivets on her truck tool box and had gained entry to the cab through a sliding glass window. When the person exited, a tree limb was closed in the door. Her iPod was missing from inside the truck. Loss and damages were said to be $600.
Aggravated burglary
Police officers responded to a May Street home late Friday after the resident discovered someone had burglarized his home. He reported that he had been away for around thirty minutes and returned to find his back door had been forced open. An NEC computer monitor valued at $300 was stolen.
Theft
Playground equipment was reported stolen from a business on West Gaines Street Monday. Reports show that soft grip and trapeze swings were taken from Top Value, resulting in a loss of around $450.
Shoplifting
Employees of Dollar General Store on West Gaines Street reported a shoplifting incident during which a woman placed items into her purse. She told police officers that they had both been standing outside the building when she noticed the woman placing merchandise into her purse. Once confronted, she came inside and paid for the items. The employee asked about whether she had stolen body spray a few weeks prior. She said the woman confessed to that crime, as well.
Shoplifting
A Loss Prevention Officer with Walmart reported a shoplifting incident to police officers last week. He said that a man and woman had stolen Seagrams and Smirnoff drinks as well as steaks and a loaf of bread, then left in a green 1990s model Nissan truck. The pair had left prior to officers’ arrival. Loss was said to be $44.81.
