Couple Arrested In Tuesday Robbery Of Amish Resident
Two local residents have been arrested on allegations that they robbed an Amish man who was traveling by horse and buggy Tuesday.
Detectives with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that the robbery occurred when the victim was traveling northbound on South Brace Road in Ethridge, near the Indiana Avenue intersection.
The victim reported that he had been stopped by two individuals in a car. He said that one man exited the car and approached him, asking for change.
He told authorities that when he told the man he had no change the man reached into his jacket. He told the victim to, “Give him his money or he would shoot him.”
The victim told deputies that he had believed the man might have a gun, therefore he handed over his wallet. He said that the man got back into the car and left, traveling south toward Lawrenceburg.
A witness was able to provide deputies with a license plate number from the suspect vehicle.
Authorities were quick to initiate an investigation, tracking the vehicle to 222 Debus Street, Lawrenceburg.
Detectives report they gathered evidence throughout 
the day, continuing on Wednesday, and were able to link the crime to residents Wayne Edward Olmstead, 26, and Amber Kaalin Brant (a.k.a. Sydney Richardson), age 34.
During the course of the investigation detectives report 
that they obtained evidence that linked Olmstead and Brant to a theft that had occurred at Clark’s Grocery in Henryville, as well.
As a result of the findings, both Olmstead and Brant were arrested on charges that include aggravated robbery, theft under $500, and theft over $500. Both were incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a bond of $80,000.
Detectives report that at the time of their arrests both Olmstead and Brant had been on probation in connection with unrelated crimes.
