Thief Uses, Then Returns Debit Card
Law enforcement officials opened a theft investigation Monday after a local man reported that someone had taken, used, and then returned his debit card.
The sixty-six year old victim, a resident of the Leoma area, filed the complaint with Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies. He told them that he had discovered unauthorized charges to his bank account.
The victim said that someone had taken his card along with $100 in cash. That individual then made several purchases at Big Lots and Walmart. He said that the offender had then returned his debit card to its normal spot.
Altogether, the victim said $372 was stolen from him. The matter remains under investigation as authorities attempt to determine who might have committed the crime.
