Asset Protection Department Bringing Legal Action In Previous Shoplifting Cases
Lawrenceburg Now
Officers with Walmart’s Asset Protection department are continuing their efforts to bring legal action against individuals suspected in past instances of shoplifting.
Department members filed complaints with the Lawrenceburg Police Department Friday regarding three such incidents, indicating that they intend to seek prosecution against those accused. Several of the charges being brought recently have resulted from thorough review of video security footage.
They reported that thirty year old Prokesh Road, Leoma resident Jennifer Faye Vasquez was processed on a shoplifting charge on October 2. They reported that she caught the attention of security personnel while she was in the jewelry department, acting “very nervous.” Personnel allege that Vasquez went to the clothing department where she began removing tags and trying to conceal the items in a bag. They said that she attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Altogether, they said the items had a value of $52.34.
In an incident that occurred on September 22, personnel indicate that they are seeking prosecution against thirty-five year old Daniel Adam Keen of 90 Shotwell Road. They said that Keen was confronted for shoplifting after he was spotted, attempting to steal a Garmin GPS device. At the time, they said he was in possession of a magnetic tool used by Walmart employees. While interviewing Keen, they said that he admitted that he had stolen a similar device from the store the previous day. They said that a review of security footage showed that he did, in fact, leave the store without paying for the item. Loss was placed at $119.
And in a case that occurred on August 13, security personnel reported that prosecution is being sought against twenty-three year old Nicholas Brian Wright of 464 Waterloo Road in West Point. They said that Wright was caught on video removing a Straight Talk ZTE cell phone from a locked hook, removing it from the package, then leaving the store without paying for the device, which was valued at $199.
