Bomb Threat Called In At Local CVS

Press release

Several calls have been received concerning activity at our local CVS Pharmacy yesterday, October 28th, 2014. Lawrenceburg Police responded to CVS in reference to a bomb threat.

A male caller had called the store, demanding that money be loaded onto a “Green Dot” money
card, and that to transfer the money to the caller.

The caller was threatening to “blow up” the building if the employee did not comply. Officials responded to scene. We did decide to call a “Bomb Dog”, from University of North Alabama, to respond, and check the premises.

During investigation, it was discovered, that several CVS Pharmacies throughout the United States
had been contacted in the same manner, on the same day, in an attempt to steal money by the
same means.

Officials and bomb dog did clear the building, and no explosives were found. Lawrenceburg Police Department would like to make businesses aware of this scheme that is currently being attempted by callers.

We will treat each and every bomb threat in the same
manner, but would like the business owners to be aware that there are subjects attempting to
threaten businesses with bombs, if the money is not transferred to them.

We encourage business owners to contact their local Law Enforcement agency, in the event of a bomb threat. Bomb threats are a serious matter and should not be taken lightly.

Law Enforcement officials will be sharing information with other agencies in an attempt to bring these subjects to justice.

Any person or persons having information on this matter, are encouraged to contact the Lawrenceburg
Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (931)762-6837.
