Loretto Woman Arrested On Statutory Rape Charge
A Loretto woman was taken into police custody over the weekend for the crime of aggravated statutory rape.
Heather Dawn Gist, age 31, was arrested at a home on Fairview Road, Loretto at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that they contacted the property owner to determine Gist’s whereabouts.
The owner confirmed that Gist had been at the home and instructed deputies to make entry in any manner necessary in order to serve the indictment.
Deputies report that they knocked and announced themselves several times. They said that although they could hear someone prowling about inside the house, they received no response.
Deputies determined that entering through a carport door would result in the least amount of potential damage. They did so and report finding Gist inside.
Gist was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without incident. She was incarcerated under one count of failure to appear in court and one count of aggravated statutory rape.
