Brother Is Apprehended In Sunday Evening Attack
Authorities who investigated a domestic altercation that occurred at a Weakley Creek Road home Sunday arrested a man involved for assaulting his sister.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that Larry Lee Durrett, age 36, was arrested around 9:00 p.m.
The victim reported to deputies that she had stopped by her father’s home and that her brother, Durrett, had begun to argue with her. She said that when they stepped outside he struck her in the face, pushed her to the ground and choked her.
She told deputies that her father came out and ordered her brother to stop the assault. The victim said that once she was free she got into her vehicle and drove to the sheriff’s department.
Members of the Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service were dispatched to assess the victim’s injuries. Reports show that she had redness around her eye and neck and that she had sustained cuts and abrasions to her left elbow and knee as well as her torso.
Deputies obtained warrants charging Durrett with one count of aggravated domestic assault. He was later arrested at the Weakley Creek Road home.
