County Leaders To Consider Securing $3.5 Million In Funding During Special Session Monday

Members of the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners will meet in special session Monday afternoon to consider approving funding for several planned and potential projects.

The sole item on the agenda for the special session is to consider a resolution authorizing the issuance of $3,500,000 in capital outlay notes.

Director of Finance Teresa Purcell said Tuesday that the proposed funds would be earmarked for several projects. A portion of the funds would be used to purchase property on which the county would potentially construct new high schools in Summertown and Loretto.

Other funds may be utilized for the potential construction of a new building to house the sheriff’s department’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Other projects for which the funds are designated include the purchase of patrol cars, roofing work at area schools and the Lawrence County Health Department, highway capital projects, renovations at the Lawrence County Ambulance service building, and solid waste drainage, roofing and other projects.

The special session, which is open to the public, will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Lawrence County Courthouse, located at 240 West Gaines Street in Lawrenceburg.
