Lawrenceburg Council Will Meet Thursday Morning

Members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council will meet for a regular bi-monthly business meeting scheduled for Thursday morning.

During the meeting the council will hold a public hearing on ordinance 1119 which proposes that property located at the Weakley Creek/Springer Road intersection be rezoned to allow for the construction of a medical office building.

The ordinance calls for property owned by Larry and Linda Braswell, located at the intersection’s northeast corner, be rezoned from the current R-2 (low-density residential district) rating to C-4 (neighborhood convenience service district).

Once the public hearing has come to a close, the board is scheduled to hold a second and final reading on the ordinance.

A second ordinance on the agenda calls for amendments to the city’s Municipal Code in regards to alcoholic beverages. It is being brought on first reading.

Two resolutions are scheduled for consideration during the meeting. The first seeks to, “Waive permit fees associated with the renovation of property located in the Lawrenceburg Historical Zoning Overlay of the public square for a period of five years.”

The second resolution on the agenda would allow that specified items in the city’s police and administration departments be declared as surplus property. This action would allow for the sale of the items on an internet auction website.

The meeting, which is open to the public, is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. at the Lawrenceburg City Administration Building on West Gaines Street.

Lawrenceburg Now will stream the meeting live Thursday morning starting at 8:25am.
