Man Charged With Evading Arrest During Service Of Warrants

An Ethridge man garnered a charge of evading arrest after he attempted to flee from law enforcement officers who were serving warrants last weekend.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department had gone to the 240 Paige Road home to serve outstanding warrants to Brandon Lee Buie, age 28.

Warrants had been issued through general sessions court, charging Buie with the crimes of violation of probation and failure to appear in court. A violation of probation warrant had also been issued through circuit court.

When they arrived at the home, deputies report that Buie was walking in front of the residence. The reporting deputy indicates that he informed Buie that he needed to speak with him. Instead of stopping, the deputy reports that he began to run around the house, falling in the back yard.

As he got to the back yard, the deputy reports Buie got to his feet and began to back away. He said that he instructed him repeatedly to stop, but that Buie refused to comply.

He subsequently sprayed him with an immobilizing spray. He notes that once Buie was brought under control and handcuffed, he was taken inside the residence for decontamination prior to transport.

Buie was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was incarcerated on the warrants, as well as the evading arrest charge.
