Burglars Break Window To Gain Access To Home

While getting ready for church on Sunday a Summertown resident discovered that burglars had broken a window in order to gain entry to her home.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate the burglary at 381 Prokesh Road on Monday.

The seventy-one year old victim reported that she had been getting ready for church when she realized that her home was unusually cool. She said that she walked through the home and noticed that a window had been broken out in one bedroom.

The victim checked the home and discovered that several items of jewelry were missing along with silver dollars that dated back to the 1800s.

The victim told deputies that she had been away from her home on Wednesday evening. She said she left for church at around 6:00 p.m., went to church and a grocery store, then returned at around 10:00 p.m. She said the burglary must have occurred during this time period, as it was the only time she had been away from home.

Loss and damages were said to total more than $700. Investigation in the matter is currently on-going.
