Illegally Obtained Credit Card Used For Purchases In Mexico

A Summertown resident filed a complaint with police officers after discovering that someone had illegally acquired a credit card in her husband’s name, then used it to make purchases in Mexico.

The wife of the seventy-five-year-old victim filed the report with deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Monday afternoon.

She said that they had received a statement by mail for a Chase credit card that had been issued using her husband’s personal information. She told deputies that they had no credit card in her husband’s name. |

The woman told deputies that, according to the credit card company, three transactions had been charged to the card in Mexico.

The woman said that she had already resolved the matter with the credit card company, but wished to have a complaint on file for future reference.
