Damages Sustained During Burglary At Summertown Business

Substantial loss and damages were reported during a burglary at a Summertown business that occurred last week.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were sent to investigate after the crime was reported at Corbin and Company Realty, located at 4 Old Highway 43.

Owner Donna Corbin told deputies that she had arrived at the office around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday to find that a rear window had been opened and numerous items moved about.

Deputies report that items had been taken from desks and other areas and loaded into trash cans and other containers. A mirror and shower curtain had been removed from the bathroom and placed on chairs.

An office chair and printer had been moved from their designated locations to the rear door. Also, the gutter drains were removed from the rear of the structure.

Corbin said everything had been in order when she left the office around 2:30 the previous afternoon.

Because of the positions in which the items were left, deputies speculate that the intruders were scared away just before Corbin entered. They said that a bottle of dish washing detergent had been knocked off of a shelf, and that resulting bubbles had not yet dissipated when they checked the scene.

Items targeted in the crime include air conditioning units, a computer monitor, DVD/VCR combo unit, and a digital picture frame. Several credit cards and $20 cash were also reported missing. Loss and damages were estimated to total $1,100.

Investigation into the crime is continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at 931-762-3626.
