Ethridge Fire Department Earns Lower ISO Rating

Hard work and dedication of the members of the Ethridge Fire Department, as well as assistance of the community, has paid off in the form of a lowered ISO rating.

The ISO (Insurance Service Office) rating utilizes a 1-10 scale, with “1” being the best. The rating is set after a thorough evaluation of nearly all aspects of a fire department, including equipment, personnel, training aids, standard operating procedures, water supply, distance between fire hydrants, hydrant size, type, installation, and flow, hours of training for fire fighters, communications, fire code adoption and enforcement, public fire safety education, and fire investigation.

In the wake of the latest evaluation the department has been awarded a class 4 rating. The rating had previously stood at 5.

Earning this lower rating for residents served through the Ethridge Fire Department will allow for significant discounts on residential and commercial fire insurance policies.

The new rating will become effective on January 1, 2015.
