Shoplifter Located, Merchandise Returned Monday

   Thanks to information provided by a witness, deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were able to locate an individual accused of shoplifting at a Summertown store Monday, and return the stolen merchandise.

   Deputies were dispatched to Dollar General Store at 5001 Highway 43 North, around 2:45 p.m. The witness reported seeing the female shoplifter exit the store, nod at a female in a white Ford Ranger, and pick up a case of Dr. Pepper and Coke drinks. She said that the woman walked to the truck, placed the drinks in the back, then got inside at which point the driver drove away.

   The witness was able to provide deputies with a license plate number. They used this to identify a suspect. Deputies went to the suspect’s residence and located the vehicle involved. They report that the stole drinks were still in the bed of the truck.

   A deputy followed the suspect back to the store where she returned the drinks. The manager then informed her that she was banned from the premises.

   The manager told deputies that she as awaiting instructions from her superiors regarding whether they wished to pursue prosecution.
