Traffic Stop Yields Drug Charges

A traffic stop conducted by a police officer during the weekend resulted in drug charges being issued against the driver.

A Lawrenceburg Police officer reports that he conducted a traffic stop at the East Gaines, Pulaski Street intersection around 1:15 p.m. on a car that had no functioning tag light.

When he approached the vehicle, the officer noted detecting the odor of raw marijuana emanating from within. When he asked about the odor, he reports that the driver, Randall Blake Luffman, age 33, of 109 Beasley Road, admitted he was in possession of marijuana.

A search yielded  34.6 grams of marijuana along with three packs of rolling papers, a single Lortab pill, set of digital scales, several marijuana roaches, a pair of scissors, and a marijuana pipe.

Luffman was issued citations charging him with possession of a controlled substance for resale, possession of Schedule II narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on December 5, 2013.
