Resident Charged With Obstruction Of Justice After Lying To Deputy

A local woman was jailed Monday on obstruction of justice charges after she allegedly gave false information to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputy about a wanted man.

Jessica Leanne Perry, age 40, of 1212 Ethridge Redhill Road was arrested at 10 Ridge Lane around 11:00 a.m.

Reports show that a deputy had gone to the home in an effort to serve a probation revocation warrant on twenty year old Zachary David Blake. The deputy reports that Perry denied knowing Blake, even though at the time he was inside her home. She told the deputy that Blake was her cousin, Jeremy Stolts, from New York.

She said she did not know Blake, but that he was at his father’s residence on Fall River Road. She then said that he was at an address on Big Springs Fork. The deputy conducted a search of the premises but found that no one else was present.

The deputy reports that he went back to the sheriff’s department to obtain a photo of Blake. He quickly determined that the man at the house was, in fact, Blake.

When he returned to Perry’s home, she called the man “John” and said that he had left with another person in a blue truck. During a second search of the home the deputy reports he located Blake hiding in a loft area in the front of the house. He reports that when he climbed down Perry addressed him as “Zac.”

The deputy confirmed that Perry knew who Blake was and that that there was an active warrant for his arrest. During the second search the deputy reports finding a 3030 rifle round that belonged to Perry. He reports that Perry’s Community Corrections officer arrived and informed Perry that it was against her violation conditions to possess the round.

Blake was placed under arrest on the outstanding violation of probation warrant. He was additionally charged with obstruction of service and evading arrest.

Perry was placed under arrest on charges of obstruction of service and facilitating or permitting escape. The deputy notes that Perry was uncooperative refusing to comply with various orders.

He reports that she resisted being handcuffed and that she refused to place her feet into the patrol car for transport. He said that her resistance caused her to get her foot caught in the car door.

Both were transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration.
