Payroll Check Cashed By Local Business Found To Be A Forgery

The manager at a Lawrenceburg business filed a complaint with law enforcement officers last week, indicating that a Pulaski payroll check cashed there was later found to be a forgery.

The manager of Tobacco and Beer for Less, 315 South Locust Avenue, filed the complaint with Lawrenceburg Police officers on Wednesday.

The manager reported that what appeared to be a payroll check from SaarGummi Tennessee LLC of Pulaski, had been determined to be fake. She said that a white male had requested to cash the $355.26 check there on September 19.

She said that the man purchased $56.14 worth of merchandise and was given the remaining $299.12 in cash.

The check had been made out to “Bart Boylard.” The manager said the man had used an Indiana driver’s license as identification and that the license listed an Indiana address.

According to the manager, the check was returned, marked “account not found.” She spoke with the bank and learned that no such account existed.

She said she called the Pulaski business and was told that they did not use the bank listed on the check, nor did they have an employee by that name.

Pulaski Dispatch reported that the address listed did not exist and that there was no one by that name living in Pulaski.

The matter has been turned over for further investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
