Woman Is Too Late To Intervene In Dog-Snatching

A Five Points woman reported to law enforcement officers that she had been too late to intervene when strangers stopped and stole her dog last week.

The victim reported that the crime occurred between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. at her Rabbit Trail Road home. She said that she had let her four year old German shepherd out for some exercise.

She said that she had baked cornbread to mix with the dog’s food, and that while it was cooling she had noticed the dog lying on the porch.

Shortly afterward, the victim said that she noticed an unfamiliar car was stopped in front of a relative’s home next door.

When she went out to check, she said she heard a yelp and that the car then pulled away. She told sheriff’s deputies that she called for the dog for some time, but had no response.

The victim was able to give deputies a description of the suspicious vehicle. Investigation into the crime is on-going currently through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation should contact the department at 931-762-3626.
