Charges Of Filing False Police Report Brought Against Lawrenceburg Woman

Law enforcement officials have brought charges against a Lawrenceburg woman, alleging that she falsely reported that her husband had threatened her with a weapon during a domestic dispute.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that Kelly Ann Dillon, 35, of Manor Drive, was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center Wednesday on a charge of filing a false police report.

Reports indicate that Dillon asked that an officer be dispatched to a friend’s home on September 23, saying that she had gone there to escape the altercation.

She told deputies that during an argument, her husband had brandished a weapon while making threats to kill her. She said that she had fled from the home and that her husband attempted to chase her, but could not find his keys.

Reports show that department detectives spoke with Dillon’s husband and son Wednesday. Both reported that neither an altercation nor the display of a weapon had taken place.

They told deputies that Dillion told them she was leaving and had someone pick her up. Dillon’s husband showed detective text messages sent from his wife, stating that she would not pursue the charges and acknowledging that she had given a false statement.

Detectives made contact with Dillion at a friend’s apartment. They report that she gave a written confession. She told detectives that she had allowed friends to “talk her into filing the false report.”

Dillon was incarcerated in lieu of a $2,000 bond. She has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on November 7, 2013.
