Young Lawrenceburg man to serve four years in teen’s death

A young Lawrenceburg man was sentenced Wednesday in connection with the death of Lawrence County High School student that occurred in December of 2017.Kyle Daniel Welcher, age 19, entered an open guilty plea in August on one count of reckless homicideand three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. The charges stemmed from a shootin incident that resulted in the death of sixteen year old Holley Ann Cullum.Lawrenceburg Police officers were called to a Smith Avenue home on December 12, arriving to find that Cullum had sustained a gunshot wound to the neck.

She later died from her injury. Three other people were present at the time the shooting occurred.

In Lawrence County General Sessions Court Welcher was sentenced to four years on the homicide charge and two years apiece on the reckless endangerment charges. The sentences are to run concurrently.
