Shoplifter Ditches Merchandise, Makes Off With Drink
A store clerk told law enforcement officers Saturday that a shoplifter had ditched at least some of the merchandise she had picked up, then made off with a drink before their arrival.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were called to Dollar General Store at 5005 Highway 43 North, in Summertown where they spoke with the clerk. She reported that she had noticed the woman moving about inside the store, picking up merchandise and placing it inside her purse.
Once she confronted the woman, the clerk said she began to place items back onto the shelves. As she exited the store, she said she grabbed a drink but did not pay for it.
The clerk was uncertain of the items that might have been stolen. She described the woman as having pink and blonde hair. She was able to provide deputies with a license plate number. When they ran the plates the deputies learned that it was registered to a Mount Pleasant woman.
Investigation in the case is currently continuing.
