Resident Arrested For Resisting Arrest, Tampering With Evidence

A local man was taken into police custody in the wake of a traffic stop early Saturday morning on charges that he resisted arrest and tampered with evidence.

Timothy Lewis Bush, 42, of 8 Rabbit Trail Road was issued charges that include possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report observing Bush’s failure to stop at a stop sign at the Deller Street/Buffalo Road intersection.

When they stopped Bush near the Palmer Street/Buffalo Road intersection, they report he appeared to be extremely nervous and was attempting to hide an unknown object in his right hand.

Officers report that Bush repeatedly refused to show them what was in his hand. When he dropped his hand out of sight they activated tasers and ordered him to show his hands for their personal safety.

Officers indicate that Bush first said he had a “joint,” but that he quickly amended that to crack cocaine. They said that they ordered Bush numerous times to hand over the contraband, but that he continued to refuse.

Bush was removed from the vehicle and placed on the ground where they report he began to physically resist, struggling with officers. They report it appeared he was attempting to crush the drug.

Officers report that “after an intense struggle” Bush was handcuffed and approximately ¼ gram of crack cocaine pried from his fingers.

Bush was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration. Bond was set at $16,000. He was scheduled an initial appearance in general sessions court on October 3, 2013.
