The Pulaski Police Department along with Giles County deputies arrested two individuals after reports of counterfeit money being used at a Pilot Truck Stop.

 

 

According to Sheriff Kyle Helton with the Giles County Sheriff's Department, Pulaski Police Sgt Billy Grenko was dispatched to the Pilot Truck Stop with reports of someone attempting to purchase goods with counterfeit money.

Upon arrival the store clerk advised Sgt Grenko that the two individuals left the store in a Ford Mustang, and after completing his investigation Sgt Grenko was able to apprehend the two suspects matching the description.

Deputies Shrader and Gurley of the GCSD assisted Sgt. Grenko by proceeding to the location that the suspects had given to recover the Ford Mustang.

After deputies located the Ford Mustang that was reported stolen out of Knoxville Tennessee they also recovered from inside the vehicle several bills of counterfeit U.S. currency, a printer, paper, marijuana and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

Russell Dan Woods, 44, was arrested on charges of 4 counts of criminal simulation, and theft of property.

Crystal Michelle Phelps, 33, was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, accessory after the fact, filing a false report, simple possession of schedule VI, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Kyle Helton spoke on case by saying,"We are seeing an increase of reports regarding the counterfeiting of U.S. currency and fraudulent use of debit/credit cards. I commend the officers for their thorough investigation regarding this incident. I would encourage the community to report any currency that appears suspicious to our office at (931) 363-3505."
