Authorities investigating complaint of motorist shooting at homes and vehicles

Lawrenceburg Now

An investigation was launched last week when a Five Points resident reported that a motorist had been shooting at homes and vehicles in the vicinity.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of shots fired on Five Points Road shortly after 11:00 Friday night. The complainant reported discovering broken windows on two vehicles at his home, including a Ford truck and a Ford Mustang.

The victim told deputies that he was alerted to the incident when his dogs began to bark. He said he went outside to check on them and heard what sounded like gunfire. He said that he saw a burgundy Ford F150 passing by, then heard the noise a second time.

The victim said that he quickly got into his vehicle and followed the truck. He placed a 911 call and reported to dispatchers that persons inside the vehicle were shooting houses and cars. He said he eventually lost sight of the truck and returned to his home. He said it was at that point that he discovered the damage to the vehicles.

The victim was able to provide a partial license plate number. At the time reports were filed detectives were following up on information gleaned from the investigation.
