Resident Reports He Was Struck With Apple

Law enforcement agents were called to intervene Sunday afternoon when a Leoma man returning from church was walloped with an apple by a teen in a tree.

The victim, a forty-one-year-old resident of Dana Lane, reported through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that when he returned to his home from church, he found that the roadway was blocked off with construction cones and tape. When he exited his vehicle to move the roadblock, he reports he was struck in the back with an apple. Turning, the man said he noticed a teen sitting in a tree. The teen reportedly jumped from the tree and fled, running in an easterly direction.

While they were speaking with the victim deputies report they heard gunshots from the east. When they went to investigation, deputies indicate they spoke with two seventeen-year-olds. The teens told deputies they were “shooting guns up in the air to scare off some dogs that were running the horses.” One of the teens allegedly admitted he had thrown the apple at the victim.

Reports indicate both teens were released into the custody of their parents.
