Residents Tipped To Burglary When Property Is Found

A Loretto couple had not realized that their home had been burglarized until they were asked Wednesday to identify property that had already been recovered by police.

According to a report filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the Lambsferry Road residents were asked to come to the Lawrenceburg Police Department to identify some property. Detectives told them that a lock box believed to belong to them had been recovered in the area.

Reports show that once the residents confirmed the items belonged to them, they went home to see whether other items might be missing. They told deputies they found pry marks around the front door that had before gone unnoticed.

They discovered that some paint was missing along with a few other items. Some medication was also reported missing. They estimated their loss to be $305.

The male resident told deputies that the burglary likely took place between July 28 and August 16, while his wife was away. He said that during that time there was no one at the home during the daytime hours.
