Decatur Alabama Police Department responded to shots fired Wednesday night that resulted in a murder charge for one man.

According to the Decatur Police Department, "On the night of August 18, 2021, the Decatur Police Department responded to 2800-block of McDonald Court SW in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, identified as Avery Robertson, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Robertson was transported to Parkway Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, it was determined the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two acquaintances. A third uninvolved acquaintance, identified as Darrell Da’Juan Clemons, 20, of Decatur, was developed as the suspect.

Clemons was charged with murder and transported to the Morgan County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bond.

"The defendant is accused of the above crime and should be considered innocent until proven guilty in the court of law."
