Vehicle Stolen In Alabama Abandoned In Iron City

An Iron City resident discovered an abandoned vehicle last week and authorities have determined that it was reported stolen out of Alabama.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were called to Iron City Store where the complainant reported finding an abandoned vehicle in a secluded area off of Ducktown Road.

He took deputies to the site where they found a white Dodge truck that had been wrecked, then abandoned in a wooded area. Deputies report that it was situated approximately ¼ mile from the roadway, on a logging road.

Reports show that the truck, the value of which was undetermined, had sustained major damage including a busted window and a large amount of body damage. Several pieces were reportedly missing.

The truck bore an Alabama license plate. A check of the vehicle identification number revealed it had been reported stolen in Florence. The vehicle was towed pending pickup by the Florence Police Department.
