Florence Man Succumbs To Crash Injuries

   An Alabama man who sustained serious injuries in a crash in the Leoma area Tuesday perished from his injuries late Thursday.

   Reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicated that the crash occurred shortly before noon in the area of Glenrock Church on U.S. Highway 43 South.

   Florence resident William Cheatham, 62, of 129 Foy Avenue, Florence, was reportedly the driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was impacted by a truck driven by Lawrenceburg resident J.D. Lovell, 69.

   Both vehicles were reportedly southbound when Lovell, who was towing a boat, attempted to negotiate a u-turn to retrieve a spare tire that had fallen from his vehicle. During the turn he collided with Cheatham’s motorcycle.

   Lovell was uninjured, however Cheatham was airlifted from the scene to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Officials report Cheatham died around 10:00 p.m. Thursday.
