Truck Stolen From Ethridge Home Involved In Sunday Crash

An Ethridge resident reported his truck stolen overnight Saturday, then later contacted authorities to report he had located it at the site of a crash.

The victim reported his 1998 Chevrolet Z71 truck had been stolen from his Snell Road home while he slept Saturday night. He told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department he had gone to bed around 11:00 p.m.

He awoke Sunday morning and was going to get his cell phone from his truck when he discovered the truck was missing. He told deputies he had left the keys in the truck because he had been working on it the previous evening.

The victim told deputies he would drive around to see if he could locate his truck. A few hours later he notified Lawrence Central Dispatch he had located it on Wisdom Road. He said that the truck had been run off the roadway and into a wooded area.

Deputies report the truck crashed into trees, resulting in damage to the roof, doors and bed. The owner was certain about the value of the damages. Investigation into the crime is continuing at the present time.
