Lawrenceburg Resident Arrested For Forging Prescription

A tip from pharmacy workers lead Lawrenceburg law enforcement officers to apprehend one woman for allegedly forging a prescription Monday.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers received the call out to Ledbetters Drugs, 47 Public Square, around 9:45 a.m. The pair then left the store to wait nearby.

A clerk at the pharmacy told officers that two women had dropped off a prescription earlier that had caught her attention. She stated that the prescription bore two types of ink and possibly handwriting from two different individuals. Since the prescription was written for a very strong medication, the clerk reports she handed the prescription off to a pharmacy technician.

Workers quickly began to investigate, calling the physician’s office, Neurosurgical Associates, to inquire about the prescription. They discovered that the patient listed, “Joseph Branden Webb,” was not a patient there and that the prescription had not been issued through that office. They then summoned officers to take over.

When one of the women called to see if the prescription was ready, a pharmacy worker informed her that the prescription could not be filled, but that she would need to pick up the written prescription in order to take it somewhere else.

Shortly afterwards, the officer reports that one of the women came to obtain the paper. She allegedly admitted she was the one who had dropped the prescription off earlier.

The woman, Krystal Leeann Johnson, age 27, of 111 Stewart Street, Lawrenceburg, was placed under arrest on one count of forgery and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. At press time she remained incarcerated in lieu of a $2,500 bond.

Johnson is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Thursday, September 3, 2009.
