Dog Damages Bicycle Tire

Authorities have investigated another odd incident involving a dog this week. This time the dog is accused of damaging a resident’s bicycle.

On Monday a resident of Granddaddy Road summoned Lawrenceburg Police Officers to her home to file a complaint. She reported that she and her son had left their home shortly before to enjoy a bicycle ride together, when they were pursued by a neighbor’s dogs.

According to the victim, the three dogs “ran out to the road and came at her.” She said that a chocolate-colored Labrador Retriever ran into her rear tire, warping the tire and causing her to crash. Damages to the bicycle were assessed at $40.

The victim told officers that there have been past instances during which officers were dispatched regarding the same dogs. She stated that they often “run loose.”

Officers made their way to the neighbor’s home to discuss the situation. When he arrived, he reports that two of the dogs were in the front yard, while the Labrador Retriever was inside.

The owner told officers that he had witnessed the incident. He said that he saw his dogs chase his neighbor and cause her to crash; that he had tried to stop them but was unable to do so.

The owner indicated that, although he keeps his dogs fenced, they often jump the fence and escape.

No charges were issued at the time reports were filed. The matter remains under investigation at the current time.

The city’s leash law requires that all residents who own dogs keep them confined.
