Deputies Investigate Animal Cruelty Complaint
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were called upon Monday to investigate allegations of animal cruelty and neglect.
The victim reported that after they had broken up, she had left her dog with her ex-boyfriend for a couple of months while she searched for a new place to live.
The victim told deputies that her ex had been jailed the week prior. When she went to pick up her dog, she said she found that it was seriously malnourished and had been left without food or water.
The victim indicated she did wish to pursue prosecution and deputies advised her how to do so.
