Father In Law Charged In Domestic Altercation

A father-in-law injured in a Saturday domestic altercation was arrested for being the aggressor in the fracas.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that when they arrived to intervene in the altercation at the Ridge Lane Road, they found a man covered in blood who looked as if “someone had beaten him pretty bad.”

Deputies spoke with both couples involved in the incident; a mother and father, their daughter and her husband. Information gleaned from all involved lead them to report that the father-in-law, Travis Hugh Price, age 51, had apparently been drinking and had become angered at his son-in-law, who was not at home at the time. When he arrived home Price allegedly retrieved a revolver and pointed it at his son-in-law. The younger man took the pistol and unloaded it.

Witnesses reported Price then retrieved a rifle, came outside and shot one time into the air while making threats to kill his son-in-law. The squabble between the pair continued until Price allegedly brought the unloaded pistol to his daughter’s home, placed it beneath his son-in-law’s chin, then pulled the trigger, causing the gun to snap. At this point, those present reported that the two became engaged in a physical altercation.

Deputies placed Price under arrest on charges of aggravated assault. He was first transported to Crockett Hospital for medical attention, then incarcerated through the Lawrence County Jail.

Price is slate for an initial appearance through the Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 14, 2009.
