Retired Nascar Driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., along with his family were involved in a plane crash in Tennessee on Thursday.

 

According to the Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday at 3:40 p.m. the plane that Dale Earnhardt Jr. was flying in crashed when it rolled off the end of the runway, and caught fire at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee.

Earnhardt who was reportedly flying to Bristol, Tennessee to announce Saturday night’s race was traveling with his wife, daughter, family dog, pilot, and co pilot when the crash occurred.

Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford stated that Earnhardt Jr. was taken to a nearby medical center where he was treated for minor injuries described as just cuts and abrasions.

Earnhardt's sister Kelley spoke about the crash on her Twitter saying, "Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding."

The FAA stated they will investigate the crash where the National Transportation Safety Board will determine probable cause of the accident.
