Husband Arrested For Choking, Dragging Wife By Hair

An Iron City man was arrested by police officers during the weekend after he allegedly assaulted his wife, dragging her about by her hair.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched to intervene in the domestic altercation at 103 Oak Street shortly after 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

The victim, age 41, told deputies her husband had been drinking in the back yard earlier while she was in bed with a migraine. She said that when he came in she asked that he not initiate a fight and that he then “jumped” on her.

He reportedly began to choke her. When she was able to allude his grasp, she said he pursued her, grabbed her by the hair of her head and dragged her back onto the bed.

The victim reported she was able to escape, grab a telephone, then ran outside and placed a 911 call for help.

Deputies noted that the victim had sustained a knot on her head, there was redness on her scalp, and there were several strands of hair on her shirt that appeared to have been pulled out.

When they questioned the husband, Jamie Lynn Tucker, 47, about the altercation, he stated that he had gone into the bedroom and his wife had begun slapping him about the head and face. Deputies noted, however, that Tucker had no marks about his person indicating he had been assaulted.

As a result of the investigation Tucker was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was booked under one count of domestic assault.

Tucker is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 20, 2011.
