Burglars Target Business In Western Lawrence

A business in western Lawrence County was targeted by burglars overnight Tuesday.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were summoned to The Thrift Store next to Westside Storage, 2835 Waynesboro Highway. According to reports, the door to the business had been pried open and a metal latch broken.

Once gaining access to the interior of the business, burglars reportedly attempted to steal a pool table, removing the legs. Although owner Donald Gilford reported that the table was still inside the business, the legs, he reported were missing.

Jeffery Wayne Dye, who rents part of the business, reported that six diecast stock cars had been stolen from his inventory. Losses were estimated to total $650.00.

The case remains under investigation at the present time through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information that might assist detectives in their investigation is urged to contact the department at 762-3626.
