Tuesday night storms knocked power out for around 1,000 Lawrence County residents as LUS crews worked through the night to restore power.

According to Lawrenceburg Utility Systems they reported around 7:00p.m. that storms had knocked the breaker out to the substation at Crockett, also including Highway 64, and the Henryville area causing around 1,000 customers to be without power.

LUS advised residents that they had crews working and using switches to get the number of residents without power up quickly.

Within approximately 45 minutes from the time that LUS had announced around 1,000 customers were without power they stated that they had decreased that number to around 120 customers were currently experiencing power outages.

Around 8:30 p.m. LUS stated that as the storms had intensified due to lightning, damaging winds, and downed trees had caused a wide spread outage effecting a large part of the Southern part of the County.

The final update from LUS came around 10:00p.m. ensuring residence that crews were continuing to work through the night to restore all power outages, and apologized for any inconvenience for the longer power restoration due to the severe electrified wind storms.

Thank you to all the LUS crews and members who work hard for this community.
