Cyclist Causes Damages At Golf Course

Officials at a Lawrence County golf course told authorities last week that they had caught their first glimpse of a motorcyclist who has been driving onto the greens, leaving damages in his wake.

Officials with Dixie Oaks Golf Course in Summertown summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to the business around 5:00 p.m. last Thursday. Employee Timothy Pollock told deputies that he had been working on the property when he saw a white male subject drive onto a green on a dirt bike. He stated that the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed. He reportedly traveled across the 16th green before fleeing from the property along North Brace Road.

Pollock told deputies that similar damages have been found in the past, but that until this incident there had been no eyewitness accounts. During this incident, deputies report the biker caused damages totaling approximately $2,000.

Pollock described the dirtbike as green with “#1” on the left side. Anyone who has information that might be helpful in the investigation should contact the sheriff’s department at 762-3626.
