Trucker Caught On Camera Taking Personal Papers From Shopping Cart
During a review of security footage at a Lawrenceburg retail store authorities found that a truck driver had taken items that a local resident had left in a shopping cart just a short time before.
The police report, filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, indicated that a fifty-five year old Summertown woman had inadvertently left her address book in a shopping cart when leaving Walmart on North Locust Avenue.
She told officers that the book contained a social security number and insurance information for a recently-deceased individual.
The victim reported that she went back to the store as soon as she realized she did not have the book, but was unable to locate it. She said she had contacted Walmart officials several times, but that no one had returned it.
Store officials discovered that an unidentified man driving an eighteen wheeler had parked his truck in the lot, then took the buggy containing the address book back to his truck. They said they had been unable to obtain a license plate number or other identifying information.
The victim told officers that the incident had raised concerns regarding identity theft.
Investigation in the matter is currently on-going.
