Charges Against 911 Director Dismissed

   Charges against Lawrence County’s E911 Director were dismissed during court proceedings Monday.

   Charges of assault were brought against Director Johnny Cheatwood in June by a man who claimed he had been assaulted by him during an E911 Board meeting.

   According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department following the incident, the man reported he had attended the meeting. During a discussion regarding an employee, the man claimed that Cheatwood became angry, grabbed his arm, and twisted it behind his back. He claimed that a board member intervened in order to ensure his safety.

   Officers reported that the man had sought medical attention for injuries he claimed to have sustained during the incident.

   Evidence in the case was heard during a preliminary hearing in Lawrence County General Sessions Court Monday. Judge Patricia McGuire found that there was not sufficient evidence presented to proceed with legal proceedings. The charges were subsequently dismissed.
