This weekend’s ‘Second Saturdays’ includes Jeep show

A vehicle that earned its stripes in WWII and remains a favorite for on- and off-road drivers will be highlighted at Second Saturdays in downtown Lawrenceburg.

The August 11 event offers the first-ever Jeep Show sponsored by Lawrenceburg Utilities System. Owners of stock and custom Jeeps can register beginning at 3:30 p.m. behind the City Municipal Building, off South Military Avenue. Space is limited, so owners are urged to arrive early.

The public can vote for their favorites from 6 to 8 p.m., determining first through third place in Stock and Custom divisions. All winners will receive trophies, and an overall winner will earn a spot in the 2018 Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade.

Food trucks and vendors will be on the Square from 5 to 9 p.m. and live music begins at 5:30 with local musician Levi Kelley. The Derrick Newton Band goes onstage from 7-9 p.m.

The band includes Newton, Cody Chapman, Wade Faulkner and Kaeden Franklin. Their specialties are rockin’ country, blues, and Southern rock - cover songs and originals by Newton and Chapman.
All events are free of charge; don't forget lawn chairs and coolers.

Second Saturdays are sponsored by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. For more information, go to the Second Saturdays Facebook page. For questions about the Jeep show, call Lee Boyd at 931-242-2236.
