Lawrenceburg Woman Charged In Burglaries At Animal Hospital, Former Pharmacy

A Lawrenceburg woman garnered several criminal charges Sunday after allegedly breaking into a local animal hospital, then attempting to break into a building on the public square.

Officials with the Lawrenceburg Police Department indicate that Louanne Marie Armstrong, 41, of 2325 Rose Hill Road, Pulaski was charged with burglary, attempted burglary, vandalism, and simple possession of marijuana.

Reports show that shortly after 5:00 p.m. officers were dispatched to both Shoal Creek Animal Hospital and the former Ledbetter’s Drug Store, located at 47 Public Square.

At the animal hospital officers found that a chair had been placed beneath a window on the north side of the building. The window had been forced open and broken. A check of the building revealed that nothing appeared to be missing. A single purple flip flop was found lying inside. Damages were assessed at just over $100.

At the Ledbetter’s building reports show that a piece of the window trim had been removed and some holes had been gouged around the frame.

Officers responding to the Ledbetter’s building reported that, while en route, they noticed a white female matching a description they had received of the suspect, walking approximately one block away. They approached the woman, later identified as Armstrong, to inquire about her activities.

Armstrong told officers that she had been walking around the square while waiting for her son to wake up so they could visit. Officers noticed that she had a knife in her hand and a screwdriver in her back pocket. She told them that she had found the knife while walking.

Armstrong was questioned about both burglaries. Reports show that she eventually confessed to having committed both. She consented to a search of her car and, inside, officers report finding the matching purple flip flop. Officers also report finding a bloody latex glove and three marijuana cigarettes.

Armstrong was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration. She was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on September 5, 2014.
