Thursday Crime Report

Burglary

Officers on patrol were flagged down by a mother and daughter in the vicinity of Walmart on North Locust Avenue on Sunday after they found someone had burglarized their vehicle. They reported that while they were shopping someone entered their 2006 Ford, taking both of their wallets. They told officers that the car had been left secured, but that they had left the windows down slightly due to the heat. Loss totaled approximately $85.

Aggravated burglary

On Monday deputies spoke with a Knob Creek Road resident who reported that his debit card had been fraudulently used. The victim reported he had last used the card about a week prior in Alabama. He told deputies that the card was in his wallet when he returned home. When he noticed his card was missing the following day, he said he checked his bank account online. He found that it had been used to make an ATM withdrawal of $100 as well as a gas purchase of $43.04 at a West Gaines Street market.

Burglary

Deputies responded to Old Glendale Road in Loretto Monday where a business owner reported her 2004 Polaris four wheeler had been stolen. She said the ATV had been locked inside the shop when she left on Friday. When she returned on Monday the four wheeler was missing, but the doors to the shop were locked and there was no sign of forced entry. The ATV has an estimated value of $3,500.

Aggravated burglary

A man caring for a Valley Road resident’s chickens discovered Monday that her home had been burglarized. He told deputies that when he came to feed the chickens he noticed a screen door had been propped open with a porch chair. When he drove to the barn he found that the driver side door of the victim’s Chevrolet S-10 truck was standing open, as well. A drawer from the house was on the truck seat with papers strewn about. The door and windows to the house were all secured and it appeared the intruder had used a key to gain access. Nothing else on the property appeared to have been disturbed.
