Summertown Resident Named District’s Trooper Of The Year

A resident of the Summertown area has been named the Trooper of the Year for the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Lawrenceburg District.

Trooper Kyle Burleson received the honor during ceremonies held Monday at the THP Training Center in Nashville. A two-year veteran of THP and a Lawrence County native, Burleson received the honor, in part due to acts of kindness shown while he was on special assignment.

Officials indicate that Burleson was among a group of troopers dispatched to assist with traffic control in the wake of a tornado that struck the Dyersburg area. There, officials indicate that Burleson dug into his own pockets to pay for shelter at a motel for a woman and her family who had nowhere to go.
